Leverage the taproom scene to increase tourism - Rich greene, NC Craft Brewers Guild

Join us as Rich Greene, Executive Director of NC Craft Brewers Guild discusses leveraging the taproom to increase tourism. He will will cover the state of the beer industry in North Carolina and the potential impact of the new omnibus bill that goes into effect in September 2019, what's working for breweries and what isn't, and hold a focused discussion to indentify areas where breweries and tourism organizations can partner.

This will be an informal session that will lead directly into the Welcome Reception where we will have a tasting of local state beers while kicking off the Tourism Leadership Conference.

NCTIA Legislative Session – New Frame

NCTIA lobbyists Brian Lewis, Jason Joyner and Skye David will take NCTIA members through the current shifts at the General Assembly and help members answer important industry questions in an informative, visual and interactive session. Guest speakers in the past have included perhaps the most powerful legislators in North Carolina politics including Senator Phil Berger and Representative Jason Saine. This year will be no different, but as always, legislators have to commit late in the process. We have a good idea of who will be attending and guarantee it will be another “can’t miss” opportunity.

Keynote: Full Throttle Leadership - Steven Foster, CMP, Foster + Fathom, LLC

“If I have to explain it, you wouldn’t understand!” This popular saying in the Biker Community perfectly expresses the challenge bikers have conveying their passion for motorcycles with those who don’t ride. Every Biker instinctively knows that the choices we make and the roads we take affect everyone on the ride. We ALL have to “GET It.” The Road, the Rules, the Route. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said when it comes to leadership.

Steven Foster is an award-winning speaker and writer on a singular mission – to help others discover passion, power and purpose to create what he calls full throttle goodness. He’s a Harley Davidson Life member, who in 2013 completed a solo motorcycle ride around the perimeter of the United States – a 32-day, 15,000 mile journey dedicated to raising awareness and support for veterans, active-duty military and their families. Steven shares his leadership experiences inside the “Club” and how a biker’s climb to leadership can be very different, yet similar to what we experience in the business community.

Active Survival - Sergeant Chris Kopp, Lockdown International

According to the FBI, the majority of active shooter events are over in less than 5 minutes. The average police response time is approximately 5 minutes. This begs the question… Can you survive and instruct your team to survive 5 minutes with an active shooter?

Lockdown International Active Survival is a course designed to provide and empower individuals with option-based survival skills to stay alive until law enforcement arrives. During this session you will learn how to develop an Emergency Operation Action Plan for your workplace, events and everyday situations. This is a high energy presentation with interactions and demonstrations.

Sergeant Chris Kopp has over 20 years of combined military and law enforcement experience. He has presented on Capitol Hill as an expert on active shooter safety and has been featured by several media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, NPR Radio and Beasley Media.
