Charles Kuralt Award

The sole criteria for this award is to recognize an individual who brings exceptional, positive public attention to the State of North Carolina through some form of mass communication. As the award name suggests, preference is given to journalist or mass media communication specialists.

Rules and Regulations
1. The recipient of the Kuralt Award does not have to live in North Carolina.
2. This service must transcend the individual and/or organization’s financial gain.
3. In case of an organization or business recipient, the principle officer of the organization shall be designated as the recipient.
4. The sole criteria for the award is “bringing exceptional, positive public attention to the State of North Carolina” through some form of mass communication.
5. Nominations for the Kuralt Award may come from anyone and must be presented to the Kuralt Awards Committee.

Additional Guidelines
1. No elected government official, government employee, or governmental agency can be considered for the awards during his/her term in office or employment.
2. No organization whose primary funding (50% or more) comes from tax or governmental sources is eligible.
3. An unsuccessful candidate one year may be renominated for the Award the following year or for any number of subsequent years.
4. No President, president-elect, or immediate past-president or employee of the NCTIA is eligible for consideration during his or her term in office or employment.
